Rhirhi's HCMC Restaurant List

This is a list of all the restaurants, bars, and cafes in Saigon that I have visited or received delivery from and liked. For years I have been asked for restaurant recommendations for cities that I’ve lived in or visited. The time and thought that went into emails or documents was not insubstantial. Offering this list through a paid subscription is how I can be supported for an activity I thoroughly enjoy and take seriously—connecting people to food and service that have enriched my life. It will be updated, and I will provide paid subscribers with overviews of new additions or notable return visits as an appreciation of support.

For one reason or another, I have marked all of these places as ones that I would like to return to or have already. Primary would be an overwhelmingly satisfaction with the food or drink, but ambiance, service, novelty, and delivery ease also come into play. My happiness with the food is never really concerned with cultural authenticity, as I have no authority to assess or speak on it. Value for money is great, but if I enjoy an expensive meal I have chosen to pay for, the emotion isn’t different than with a less expensive one. Thus, there is a full spectrum of Saigon dining prices.

Within monthly updates to the list, I sometimes mention recent travel. If I have food recommendations, they appear there. Below I’ve linked to the updates that include any of these outside of HCMC mentions.
